  2017 – It’s nearly a wrap

The world has seen some incredible ups and downs this year. In the field of natural health, it’s been little different – a bit like riding a roller coaster, dealing with both the trials and the tribulations. Persistent attacks from regulators, certain factions from the big corporate sector and of course myopic scientists and doctors, will continue whatever. These attacks tend to be initiated either by those who don’t understand enough about the benefits and low risks associated with natural health, or by those concerned that increased adoption will impact their business model.

But some corporates, rather than attacking, have bought in, flexing their financial muscle, making strategic acquisitions, including of Pukka Herbs, Pure Encapsulations and Garden of Life. Where it all ends up is anyone’s guess, but we can only hope that soundings from the grassroots, the people who fuel the economy, have been adequately taken and will be responded to accordingly.

Apart from thanking you for your support this year, for sharing our information widely, for helping us expand our social media presence quite considerably, we bring you two final pieces in true ANH style. One is a special report (it’s only 7-pages and could have been 30!) on vitamin B6, the vitamin that’s set to be the fall-guy for the next battle in the EU vitamin wars – unless we can all work successfully together to stop that happening.

Our second piece is our traditional annual wrap up. This year, Charlie and Melissa in our team have worked hard to produce what we think is a fantastic infographic that showcases our last 12 months of intensive work. Don’t miss the link at the bottom to our Food4Health guidelines — thank you, Meleni — for composing your festive plate so you can have yourself a ‘Merry Little F4H Holiday’! And while I’m thanking my team, a huge thank you to Miranda for keeping the wheels turning back at base, and to Paul whose wisdom and administrative expertise we just couldn’t do without.

As a non-profit that’s independent of industry, any political factions or lobbies, we can’t do any of our work without your support – all of it depends entirely on donations. We could do a whole lot more with more financial support. If you like and value what we do, please consider making an end of year donation. Any contribution you can offer will be immediately put to work. The six of us here in our Dorking office who work tirelessly to support natural health really appreciate any support you’re able to offer, financially or in kind.

Wishing you abundant health – as naturally as you can manage – as well as the very best for the festive season and New Year,

Rob Verkerk, PhD
Founder, executive & scientific director
