View this email in your browser     ANH-Intl eAlert No 338 | 8 February 2017         e-ALERT     Prejudice and ignorance           Natural health — or our ability to manage our health through natural means — has two big enemies: Prejudice and ignorance. This week we deal with excesses of both in each of our top stories. Story one on vitamin supplements was triggered by more vitamin supplement bashing headlines in the media following a British television programme that showed that coming off vitamin supplements didn’t cause a drop in blood levels of the vitamins.  Firstly, blood levels are not necessarily accurate indicators of status, secondly, what blood compartments were looked at for each nutrient, and – oh, and what supplements were taken? Our story this week is a rebuttal aimed at redressing prejudice and ignorance around vitamin and mineral food supplements. Our second story addresses the very serious and ongoing blockade against freedom of speech linked to the showing of Dr Andrew Wakefield’s film, Vaxxed: From Cover-up to Catastrophe. We review some of the common arguments being used to support the censorship. Attempts to discredit the messenger (Wakefield) and cover-ups (CDC) aside, the drive for censorship is driven not by facts, but again by ignorance and prejudice. Both these pieces this week remind us just how far society has strayed from recognising and respecting our evolutionary roots and our intimate association with nature. Those in powerful places, whose identity is tied to their ability to control public opinion, seamlessly and so unnaturally gravitate towards pharmaceuticals and vaccines, the likes of which we have only been exposed for a tiny fraction of our species’ existence. This course can only be maintained by prejudice and ignorance. Let’s never confuse this for rational common and scientific sense.
