TAKE 1: The government and pharmaceutical company perspective

Karen McVeigh of the Guardian newspaper in the UK wrote on 14 july: "Around the world pharmaceutical companies have been producing vaccine strains for at least a month. Some are in the experimental stages, while others are approaching the need for clinical trials. However they are "by no means" ready yet, according to the World Health Organisation.

The Department of Health has said it has signed contracts to supply enough vaccines for the entire population in the UK and expects the first batches to arrive in the early autumn."

TAKE 2: The World Health Organization's perspective

While being the organisation officially responsible for the pandemic status, we must remind ourselves that this pandemic status is based on the virus' transmissability, not its virulence, hence the statement below from the WHO's Director-General:

"On present evidence, the overwhelming majority of patients experience mild symptoms and make a rapid and full recovery, often in the absence of any form of medical treatment."

TAKE 3: What happened last time round (swine flu vaccination program, 1976)

Take the time out to watch both Part 1 and Part 2 of CBS's 60 Minutes, reporting on the neurological problems and deaths caused by the vaccination program the last time swine flu swept across the USA.

The following videos have been removed from YouTube, the official reason being:

"This video has been removed due to terms of use violation"

We strongly disagree with this decision, given that these videos represent historic footage which has huge relevance today, when millions will be making decisions about whether to accept or reject the swine flu vaccination. The historical footage from CBS reported the many adverse events, including severe Guillain-Barré Syndrome reactions among persons vaccinated against swine flu during the 1976 epidemic in the USA.

Reported in CBS's 60 Minutes, we believe that such an action is an infringement of our 'right to know', particularly given the impending global swine flu vaccination programme endorsed by the WHO and nearly all governments around the world.
