  Big fat lies

Fat is becoming something of a taboo. Not making clothes for over-sized people, for example, is widely regarded as unethical and exclusive. But it seems that dietitians, government regulators and Big Food have broadened the taboo - choosing to not engage with fats whenever they can. We’re now being told fish oils don’t reduce heart disease and we’re still being told we need to reduce fat intake in our diets.

These are the two themes of our pieces this week – and they both amount, in our view, to big fat lies. Big corporates benefit – and the public suffers, and even dies prematurely.

In our news stories you’ll find some good news – by 2021 all foods certified in the EU will need to be soil grown and will exclude hydroponics and 3 ‘neonic’ bee-toxic pesticides will be banned.
