Blueprint: released… |

It was in 2002, while I was still a postdoc researcher at Imperial College London that I first proposed that the principles of sustainability be applied to healthcare. I was laughed at by the health freedom movement of the time. Apparently the word ‘sustainability’ was just too long to be taken seriously.
Seven years later, I published a paper on this same subject in an Australian journal, the Journal of the Australian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine. That followed being asked to give the inaugural lecture for the establishment of the National Institute of Integrative Medicine in Melbourne, Australia.
And now it’s another 9 years on. Just today, we’ve published our detailed blueprint on health system sustainability, this version targeting the UK. On the same day that the UK government nearly lost its leader through a vote of confidence, we’ve sent our blueprint to its Health Minister.
We’ll keep you posted on progress in the New Year. We’re holding out a lot of hope for big change, at a time when so many seem to hold out so little hope for a brighter, more natural, more sustainable future.
In this week’s eAlert, you’ll also learn how you can help make Wikipedia more balanced in its coverage of issues affecting natural health. Then there’s our news roundup.
And, one more thing, tomorrow morning sees the launch of our new website. We hope you see it as a significant improvement over our current one.
So, as the northern winter approaches, we’re getting ready for spring. It’s good to be ahead of the curve ;-)
In health, naturally and sustainably
