  German vitamin levels and self-care

Please accept our apologies for the delay in sending our weekly eAlert. We migrated our entire website content to a new server earlier in the week and unfortunately bugs in the system delayed the release last night. We’ll soon be embarking on a redevelopment of our website that will greatly improve its functionality. Thank you for your patience in the meantime.

The illusion of truth is everywhere. Whole societies run on this basis. Lies and deception are repeated over and over, and the public is forced to make these notions its ‘truth’. This is the basis on which most people have accepted, perhaps until quite recently, that low fat diets are healthy and that vitamin supplements don’t work and may be dangerous.

These are illusions supported by bad science that are accepted so widely by those in power that legislators in democratic countries build entire legislative systems around them – supposedly to protect us, while actually harming us.

As the British author and scriptwriter Donald James Wheal (who also wrote under the name Dresden James) once wrote: "A truth’s initial commotion is directly proportional to how deeply the lie was believed. It wasn’t the world being round that agitated people, but that the world wasn’t flat. When a well-packaged web of lies has been sold gradually to the masses over generations, the truth will seem utterly preposterous and its speaker a raving lunatic."

This week, we show how Germany’s leading risk assessment agency has yet again claimed to use science to limit public access to vitamins. In a few cases, it is proposing relaxation of some restrictions on maximum levels for vitamins and minerals in Germany, but in others, it is proposing even greater, disproportionate and unjust restriction.

In our second story, we delve into the range of ways very low or high tech equipment can better support your self-care. That’s all about how you can manage your health when you’re not seeing a doctor or practitioner – which is likely to represent the vast majority of your time. Self-care is a seminal concept if we’re to address the precipitous cliff on which conventional healthcare systems are currently balanced. But it’s so important we also recognise that mainstream’s version of self-care is still largely dependent on drugs. As you’ll discover, we believe the most effective form of self-care should be lifestyle based.

We also bring you news in our weekly updates about children and statins, challenges to UK blacklisting of homeopathic treatments in the NHS, Germany’s possible ban on glyphosate and another question mark over the long-term efficacy of the HPV vaccine.
