Across the world, health authorities proclaim the safety and effectiveness of vaccination on the basis of, what can only be described, as flimsy evidence. Vaccine side effects are carefully concealed from public view. Increasingly sophisticated strategies are being deployed in an effort to ensure that as bigger sector of the population as possible – from babies to the aged and infirm – become part of the market for the ever-broadening line-up of vaccine products.
In our lead story this week, we look at how those health authorities are quietly extending the vaccination schedules beyond the populations originally targeted and question whether this experiment will end in disaster.
Our second piece could be seen as a tribute piece to the unsung hero within us – our immune system. Given its sheer sophistication, and the problems caused by not providing it with the right resources, it is remarkable we learn so little from mainstream medicine on how best to nurture it for maximum performance.
