Oops, something went wrong and our #TBT articles managed to detach themselves! Here it is again - with articles...
Today marks our second venture deep into the ANH-Intl archives, as we revisit articles we feel are still intensely relevant to current issues in #ThrowbackThursday .
There's still a lot of conversation in the tweetosphere following the Swiss Re / BMJ event in Switzerland the week before. This week (on Tuesday) the Royal Society of Medicine hosted the Calorie Reduction Summit. It's meant to be the answer to childhood - and adult obesity. The good news is that more and more experts are in disagreement with calorie counting and getting people onto sweeteners. In our #TBT stories this week we show you why.
In our first piece we look at fuel and calories. Our bodies don't respond in the same way to calories from broccoli as compared with calories from ice cream. Hence the increasingly commonly used truism: not all calories are equal. Obesity is a dysregulation of our metabolism and we don't need to just reduce calories and eat sweeteners - we need to correct the issues with our metabolism. That means developing metabolic flexibility - and that's the central theme of our article.
Our second piece focuses on how sweeteners are not the solution - nor is handing the sugar-reduction challenge to the 'experts' in Big Food. They're the very people who discovered the 'bliss point' via a specific combination of sugar, salt and fats - and now we're asking them to deliver a fix? It's not that simple, as you'll discover.
You'll also find a fresh revamp of our weekly news snippets to give you an easily digestible review of some of the key happenings in the world of natural health.
