Synopsis of talk:
Allopathic medicine is in crisis. Even if healthcare systems do not entirely collapse under the burden of preventable, chronic disease, magnified by aging populations, it is increasingly unlikely that, without a sea change in approach, they will be able to offer the support necessary to ensure a high quality of life to future generations. Dr Verkerk will set out the case for why the two lenses of holism and ecology are required to revolutionise health and care. These lenses ensure that the role of the human biofield, long recognised to reflect an individual’s health status by traditional systems of medicine, must be fully taken into account, along with our social interactions, interactions with other organisms (internally and externally), and our increasing exposure to new-to-nature chemicals and electromagnetic fields. Dr Verkerk will also present the most salient elements required for sustainable approaches to healthcare that, as already recognised in the cases of agriculture and the energy industry, which must be both nature-aligned and regenerative.
