  • Three-quarters of people, in the UK, polled by The Health Foundation, support the sharing of some of their personal health data, such as medicines they’re taking and long-term illnesses. However, they’re much less willing to share data that tracks sleep or sexual health. The survey comes as the UK’s NHS fast tracks digitisation of data and services. People were extremely hesitant about the use of technologies that might ‘distance’ healthcare practitioners from patients.

  • A US federal district court has ruled that genetically engineered (GE) organisms must be regulated, after the Center for Food Safety and others sued the US Department of Agriculture (USDA). The decision overturns a 2020 rule brought in by the first Trump administration, which removed most government oversight of GE plants. The Court said that the decision to deregulate GE organisms was in “direct conflict with the conclusion of its own experts”

  • Raw milk is under attack once again as US authorities mandate raw milk testing for the H5N1 virus. The move comes after viral fragments were found in raw milk samples in November. A child that became sick after drinking raw milk, is being tested for bird flu, but tests have failed to provide a link thus far and public health officials are already expressing doubt as to whether it was bird flu. Fearmongering about bird flu is still being ramped up. The new mandate coincides with predictions from Dr Peter Hotez of a new pandemic, as the Trump administration takes office and publication of a new study in Science, stating the H5N1 flu virus is just one step away from being able to transmit between humans
  • The use of IV vitamin C (IVC) to treat cancer is being hailed as a ‘new breakthrough’ in treating cancer after the University of Iowa Health Care Carver College of Medicine shared results from a randomised trial, published in Redox Biology, adding IVC alongside chemotherapy treatments for pancreatic cancer patients. The use of IVC doubled the overall survival of patients with late-stage metastatic pancreatic cancer from 8 months to 16 months. The use of IVC as part of cancer treatments is decades old. ANH founder, Rob Verkerk PhD has been privileged to work with one of the leading experts in this area, Dr Jeanne Drisko. Find out more about the effectiveness of IVC, in his conversation with Dr Drisko (link below), which reveals many clinical pearls from her more than 3 decades of experience.

  • Want to reduce your risk of developing Alzheimer’s, even if you have a higher genetic risk? Then there’s good news. Researchers publishing in Neurology have used a brain care score (BCS) to assess the effect of 12 different risk factors including diet, alcohol consumption, smoking, exercise levels, stress management and sense of purpose on people’s risk of developing Alzheimer’s. The higher your BCS score, the lower your risk, regardless of your genetics, showing the more you engage in health promoting behaviours, the more you’re protected against dementia and Alzheimer’s.
