Dr Jenny Goodman qualified at Leeds University Medical School in 1982, and is a member of the British Society for Ecological Medicine. She has specialised in Nutritional and Environmental Medicine since the year 2000. She has a particular interest in pre-conception care (fertility and making healthy babies), and in working with children.

Jenny has lectured extensively, to other doctors, to practitioners of alternative medicine, and to the general public. She ran a case-discussion group for 10 years, where medical and naturopathic/nutritional practitioners share knowledge and clinical experience.

These are toxic times—sadly, most of us now inhabit an increasingly toxic world. As a qualified medical doctor & practitioner of Ecological Medicine and member of the British Society for Ecological Medicine (BSEM), Dr Jenny Goodman has been helping people improve their health for over 20 years.

Recognising the problems presented by the effects of an ever increasing deluge of environmental toxins ranging from agricultural chemicals, plastics, 'forever chemicals', junk foods through to harmful electromagnetic frequencies, Jenny decided the best way to raise people's awareness of the health issues posed by the situation was to write a book. Her first book, bestseller 'Staying Alive in Toxic Times' (Yellow Kite, 2020) introduced people to the problem at hand, the concept of Ecological Medicine along with the importance of living and eating seasonally and how to put 'good stuff' back in.

Following on from the success of that first book, she's just published her second book 'Getting Healthy in Toxic Times' (Chelsea Green Publishing, 2024). The book does what few do currently, which is to connect the health of our planet with our own well-being, and then provides science and clinically-backed answers to how can we protect ourselves from the pollutants and toxins that pervade our environment.

ANH founder, Rob Verkerk PhD, interviewed Dr Goodman for our Speaking Naturally channel last week (watch/listen to the interview below). They discussed the different ways in which our increasingly toxic world affects our health, as well as that of the planet on which we depend. Dr Goodman then provides invaluable advice on what we can do to protect ourselves and those around us, as well as ensuring we're taking in the nutrients needed to help us transform the toxic load to which we're exposed.

This is a fascinating conversation covering a wide-range of topics including exploring how toxic today’s world is; how our ancestral genes are coping with the chemical and EMF onslaught; why do health authorities place so little importance on total chemical and EMF load; is the problem we now face linked more to dose/exposure, or to the nature of the chemicals e.g. new-to-nature versus chemicals to which we have had evolutionary exposure? How can people tell when their own detox mechanisms are overwhelmed and can no longer cope?  What routes of intake (oral, dermal, inhalation) are most problematic in terms of exposures to chemicals? How do we improve our detox capacity plus much more.

The ANH team has been rivetted by the conversation and we're sure you'll want to share it with everyone in your network so they too can learn more.
