We were devastated to learn this week of the passing of functional medicine and integrative oncology practitioner, teacher and warrior, Patricia Daly (Wyss) in Ireland. Patricia, well known internationally as the co-author of the bestselling book, the Ketogenic Kitchen, was a dear friend and close associate of us at ANH. Her journey has inspired tens of thousands around the world, especially those on their own cancer journeys. Her story is one of courage, resilience, and unwavering determination to overcome life's most challenging adversities.

At the young age of 28, Patricia was diagnosed with malignant melanoma of the eye. Instead of succumbing to despair, she took charge of her life and turned her diagnosis into a powerful catalyst for change. This pivotal moment led her to study nutrition at the IINH in Ireland, where, following her graduation, she became a specialist tutor and advocate for health and wellness. She adopted the ketogenic diet as part of her transformative journey, going on to become a beacon of hope and an example of living life to its fullest after a cancer diagnosis. Her dedication and insights earned her a prominent place in the world of integrative oncology.

Tackling adversity

Patricia faced a significant setback when she experienced a relapse after the birth of her first child. This relapse nearly claimed her eyesight, but true to her indomitable spirit, she not only recovered but emerged stronger, pushing boundaries to fight her cancer and help others find their own paths to healing. Her expertise and compassion enabled many of her clients to put their cancers into remission and regain their metabolic health, reflecting her dedication to their well-being.

Patricia's co-authorship of ‘The Ketogenic Kitchen‘ with Domini Kemp cemented her place as an authority in nutritional approaches to cancer care. Patricia collaborated with renowned functional medicine oncologists from around the world and, in 2024, joined the WhiAWARE Personalized Applied Metabolic Therapy clinic, founded by Dr. Wafaa Hadi. Additionally, she contributed her expertise to the European Keto Live Center in Switzerland, working closely with its founder, Josephine Barbarino, since its inception.

Leaving an amazing legacy

Tragically, Patricia’s cancer returned in 2024. Despite her valiant fight, she passed away on Sunday, January 12th, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of courage and hope. The countless tributes paid to her memory speak volumes about her impact. She will be remembered for her courage, determination, and resilience—an inspiration to all who knew her.

"Patricia’s life was not a failure but a remarkable success.

Her story serves as a reminder that the standard of care alone could not have afforded her the years she gained, nor the legacy she left behind. She demonstrated the power of stepping beyond fear, of integrating approaches that honor the whole person, and of living a life of purpose, no matter the odds.”Dr Nasha Winters, 2025

It seems profoundly unjust that the disease Patricia dedicated her life to combatting ultimately claimed her. However, her work will live on, through the thousands she has helped to improve their health and the countless others she inspired with her gentle, compassionate approach to life. Patricia's absence leaves a void in our community and in our hearts, but her legacy will endure through the lives she touched.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to Patricia's family, friends, and all those whose lives were enriched by her presence. Patricia will be deeply missed, but her spirit and contributions will live on.

Tribute to Patricia from the AWARE clinic
