August Tailoring Tolerance - Mind

If you're presently in Northern climes, we hope you've been enjoying some belated, warmer weather and some days of vacation.

Last week, ANH founder, Rob Verkerk PhD, set the scene for our August Tailoring Tolerance series in which we will be curating articles from the ANH archive that consider specific areas of our health ecosystem under the headings of Mind, Body, Spirit and Environment. Each of these areas, that have been integral to all long-standing and more recent holistic systems of health or medicine, help us reflect on how we (not some third party) can be the most important agents in our own health journeys that aim to elevate the function of our whole being.

We start the series this week with a focus on the Mind, where we consider: the links between diet and depression, especially in teenagers; the effects of chronic stress; how what happens in our gut affects our brain health, and; the importance of spending time in nature for good mental health.

As always, we have a plethora of natural news with a focus on dietary related news along with the ongoing push to deregulate gene edited organisms, using 'new genomic techniques', and the efforts of failing pharma companies to turn their fortunes around by pursuing biologics and biosimilars (predicted by Rob Verkerk as early as 2017) and executing a wholesale takeover of the World Health Organization's global regulatory systems.

However, let's never despair: the future of our own health will ultimately reside with us, as sovereign beings capable of making our own health choices irrespective of diktats from governments, corporations or supranational authorities.

In health, naturally
