Digital IDs and being smart

Just as the European Commission publicises its decision to proceed with vaccine passports, the UK opens a consultation over its decision to greenlight digital IDs – or at least hand that job to the private sector – aka Big Tech.

This is the sector very closely allied to the social media industry that has placed a gargantuan road block in the way of free speech and even scientific discourse. So we draw your attention to a very important survey being carried out by the UK Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) responsible for developing the ‘trust framework’ within which Big Tech will work to deliver Digital IDs to the British public.

Many will claim vaccine passports are not part of this, but, equally, it’s hard to argue that many developers won’t see the value in building them into digital IDs. We urge UK citizens and residents to engage with this survey and we outline 4 points that we think should be made by as many people as possible. Check out our lead story and video on this – and please share widely.

We’ve then got one of my blogs, albeit on a rather sensitive subject: stupidity in the face of this pandemic. More charitably, it’s actually more about how we can better harness human intelligence to extract ourselves from the mess we’re in.
