Restrict statins not CBD

Two weeks in a row we’re bashing the Lancet journal – one of the most prestigious in the world. More correctly, we’re challenging some of the science the Lancet is prepared to publish in the name of academic excellence.

Our critique last week of the EAT-Lancet Commission’s work was about reigning in ideologies that have little relevance to the real world. This week, it’s about twisting science, ignoring side effects, engaging masters in public relations and making prophylactic recommendations for statins for those over 75. You could argue the continued push on statins is also about ideology, assuming your ideology is about keeping the drug companies sweet so you maintain your research budget – or you’re a signed up member of a Big Pharma board.

Speaking of Big Pharma – we smell a rat on the latest regulatory shenanigans that seem intended to kneecap the EU market for CBD oil. Just as it was really getting going and millions were starting to experience side-effect free, pain-relieving benefits of naturally-occurring CBD oil – concentrated from hemp oil that’s been in our food supply for centuries….
