The uncertain promise of a vaccine
Today we release our new 25-minute video entitled ‘The Uncertain Promise of a Covid Vaccine: What We’re Not Being Told’. Far from what we’re often being led to believe, there is huge uncertainty and even risk in developing Covid-19 vaccines at this unprecedented speed, using genetic engineering technologies that have never been tried or tested at scale. Yet next year, Bill Gates and others want to see nearly every human on the planet exposed to such vaccines. Our video highlights the 15 big unknowns that we all need answered if we’re to be able to exercise our right to informed consent. We also bring you the latest from the Swiss Re/BMJ convened ‘Food for Thought’ 2020 virtual summit that continues to try to unpick some of the biggest controversies in nutrition science. From calories to low carb to salt, we give you the top line, along with direct access to recordings of all the sessions. For those wanting to get under the skin of the Covid pandemic, we continue to update our Covid Zone weekly. We also include an important piece from the Conversation UK by two leading Swedish epidemiologists that explains why and how the pandemic might burn out with as little as 20% infection in the community. Then there’s the our weekly news roundup. Making this happen is a team who are working incredibly hard on your – or I should say, all of our – behalves. A big thank you to them, especially to new arrivals Mike and Ismail for helping us produce the video in 4 days from conception to release. And to Melissa and Mel for everything they do to keep all the information, campaigns and networks moving. Being stretched to the limit, on Monday we meet with our first volunteer. We thank those of you who’ve offered help with various skills and services, and we’ll be getting back to you all over the next couple of weeks. We are especially in need of help on outreach, social media, public relations, public affairs and fundraising. Anyone who thinks they can help, please let us know. Finally, being 100% reliant on donations, any donation you can provide, whatever the amount, is incredibly gratefully received. We’re all in this together. My hope is that we’ll all come out the other side, stronger, more resilient and wiser. More prepared for how to create a better, more sustainable world that works with, not against, nature.
