Wrecking by disconnection, healing through connection

This week, we’ve got a lot of words for you that relate to connected and disconnected systems, the former being what we need to fix our myriad woes, the latter that we must avert, to halt the ravages on our health and society.

But we’re also listening to you, and some of you are struggling under the weight of information all around us to find enough time to read all of our outputs. So we’ve sought some help from AI-powered software that delivers all three of this week’s articles in audio form. We searched for AI avatars that gave us accents and vocal genders consistent with the authors. Mel’s super-sized treatise (the second article in the list below) from the clinical psychoneuroimmunology conference we attended at the beginning of the month in Belgium, at which I was an invited speaker, is in my view essential reading for anyone who is looking to squeeze more potential out of their bodies or minds. Anyone interested in the politics and manipulation that’s going on both in the journal publishing business and in health systems generally, I hope, should find there’s ample food for thought in my two pieces, including a call for potential donors or investors.

In our news this week, I’m still reeling from learning how hard Big Ag, led by Bayer (Monsanto’ owner since 2018), is pushing US states to give it immunity from prosecution in the event of pesticide-related injuries. The same deal that vaccine companies negotiated in the mid ‘80s.
