Happy New Year!
Nine days in – and the world’s still a mad place!
I’m reeling from the unfolding news of what’s just happened in Westminster, that throws a new set of questions over the locus of democratic, Parliamentary and executive (Government) power through the Brexit process. Just prior, I was still recovering from seeing what happened with that flu jab stunt at the Golden Globes! An interesting way for Big Pharma to try to deal with vaccine antipathy? Or to identify A-listers who might be pigeon-holed as ‘anti-vaxxers’ but actually are just keen to express their views on medical informed consent in a state (California) that has trashed parental consent on vaccination?
In our stories this week, we kick the year off with sugar and screens. Both of these might have had more than the usual attention over the break! The take home is: the world is still mad! Despite Big Food’s lip service on sugar reduction – we’ve found high street restaurant foods – savoury meals to boot – that can set you on the road to full scale metabolic disease! Talk about hidden sugars. Then there’s the anti-low carb push that’s being metered out by the likes of Slimming World which advocates unlimited potatoes, rice and pasta.
In our second piece, we shine a light on screens and show how Big Tech has elevated itself and become an equal to Big Pharma, Big Food and Big Ag – manipulating the public interest in the name of profit.
We also have a truck-load of news for you if you’re up for it.
