Rob Verkerk PHD

Rob is a multi-disciplinary scientist, using science as a tool for good, not as a weapon for misinformation. Supporting health regeneration, working with nature, not against it! Freedom advocate and educator.

Dr Leo Pruimboom

Dr Leo Pruimboom

Dr. Leo Pruimboom is a pioneer in clinical psychoneuroimmunology (cPNI), a translational medical discipline that studies the interaction between the neurological, endocrine, immune and metabolic systems, and their role in our health and wellbeing.

Lousise Carder

Louise Carder

Louise became the first European practitioner certified in the Shoemaker Protocol (relating to Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome, known as CIRS) and is still the only nutrition professional to be certified.

Join us at Envirohealth 2026: Neuroecology:
The Brain in Its Environment – From Planet to Home to Body

Get ready for an inspiring in-person event all about the brain in its environment. In this symposium, we use the concept of neuroecology to explore how large-scale environmental changes, our physical indoor habitats, and lifestyle stressors converge on the brain — driving adaptation, maladaptation, and clinical outcomes. Dive into the fascinating world where neuroscience meets ecology, and discover how our surroundings shape our minds. Connect with passionate thinkers, explore groundbreaking ideas, and enjoy engaging talks in a friendly atmosphere. Don’t miss out on this unique chance to experience Envirohealth 2026 up close!

Rob’s presentation will focus on: The Brain Under Siege in the Anthropocene:
Macro-Drivers, Allostatic Overload, and Pathways to Recovery

The Anthropocene is no longer a distant backdrop to health. It now generates upstream drivers of neural load that can exceed evolved adaptive ranges, resulting in chronic allostatic overload and downstream pathology. Rob Verkerk, PhD, applies a neuroecology lens to map key “macro-drivers”—ecosystem disruption; climate–temperature stress; chemical, air and light pollution; urban noise and sensory overload; and other forms of technosphere novelty. He shows how these pressures act through three tiers of the exposome (external, internal, and endogenous) and converge on pathways that govern neural stress and adaptation. These pressures help explain clustered syndromes spanning sleep disruption, depression, anxiety, cognitive impairment, neurodegenerative trajectories, and premature ageing. The session concludes with practical, multi-scale pathways to recovery, linking policy and community action with clinically relevant exposure mitigation and resilience-building strategies.
