Adam Smith
Science & communications officer, ANH-Intl
Well, here we are again: looking behind us as another year disappears in the rear-view mirror. 2013 was certainly a busy year in the world of ANH-Intl and of natural healthcare more widely, which perhaps that explains why we can hardly believe we’re waving goodbye to it already!
As is now traditional at ANH-Intl, we’re delighted to present our Review of the Year, with a slight twist for 2013. To gain maximum enjoyment from the verses below, sing, hum, whistle or otherwise accompany yourself to the tune of ‘The Twelve Days of Christmas’.
As ever, we can’t thank you enough for your support in the last year. We’ll need it more than ever in 2014 – it’s going to be another big one!
January
So 2012 just over, and what did we see?
Legal clampdowns and obesity.
February
EFSA nodded through aspartame in February
It’s fattening
While sat fat’s now considered friendly.
March
Europe is in a battle to say no to GMOs
Bees got stiffed
Monsanto was miffed
And Wakefield was not so silly.
April
Your water may be pharma’s dumping ground these days
Don’t be dismayed:
Break out a sweat
Pharma quacks will see what’s healthy.
May
One of our May-time stories was a brand new campaign:
That wasn’t all:
Why wheat is bad
And health claims research by Rob V.
June
Until the promise was kept, we kept the pressure on
Simply advising:
Other big news
Was EFSA
Skeptic nonsense
And an oddly pro-GM MP.
July
Into July, and the herb law was once more on the floor
Homeopaths rebelling
Empathy not drugging
Plus a lesson
For MPs
Who love GMOs:
You’ll get busted eventually.
August
Now into the month of August, and what did we see?
Shifts and revealing
Sally Roberts speaking
Censorship creeping
More GM news
Was to come:
EFSA U-turned
And the UK spoke for industry.
September–October
Twenty-thirteen’s final quarter was busy, it seems:
GM danger warning
Protest evicting
Illusions dissolving
Hormone disrupting
But GMOs
Stole the show:
Swapping pig feed
Was a big win for farmer Ib P.
November–December
14,000 likes on Facebook made us mighty pleased
Like our new project
That aims to correct
The baleful effect
Of the EU’s edict
Of low intellect
TO DUMB US DOWN!
Clear agendas
All in a day’s work for your ANH team!
